Well the verdict is in...

After 2 hours at the hospital, we finally were bounced to a pediatric eye doctor who spoke English. She looked at Payton and immediately set an appointment for Thursday morning. Seems that little miss Payton is going to have her first minor surgery in Costa Rica. They think it is a chalazion ( a cyst in the glands within the eyelids - drawing on left) so they want to sedate her, then go in through the back side of the eyelid and remove the cyst and capsule. Maybe in the states we would be a little more calm about the whole ordeal....but being here, as usual, ensures that everything interesting.

While we were waiting (and waiting and waiting) at the doctors office, Kade finally lost his patience and said the following:
"Where is our doctor?" followed by a stern "Who's in charge here?!?"
Well stated Kade....your mom and dad were thinking the same thing! And where did you learn that ;-)

oh poor dear...
I'll say a prayer for her.

We have some friends that before they moved to Nicaragua lived there in Costa Rica and she went through her entire chemo and radiation treament there in CR. About 1/10 of the cost it would have been in the states and she is now in remission. Also, they claimed it was great health care.

They just seem to have a different "time schedule".

I am confident in the quality of the care she will receive. I have heard many times that the quality of health care is very good here...and so far it appears to be true. The hospital is a private hospital and all the doctors seem to really know what is going on. Thanks for the prayers... now if you want to say a little prayer for the Giants too ;-)

Poor Payton 8-(. Aunt Pat used to have these all the time, even into adulthood, but I am not sure how they treated her as a kid. I think as an adult, the docs did the procedure in the office, but she is an adult. And, she may have been on Valium as well. Are they doing anything in the meantime? Like warm compresses?

I will be thinking of her Thursday.

And Kade is a riot. I can just picture him doing his thing.

Hugs and kisses to all on what, I am sure, will be an anxious day.

Haha, I just laughed so hard when I read about what Kade said at the doctor's office! I hope Payton is doing alright!
