Happy 2nd Birthday Payton!

In a virtual internet tidal wave, Payton is fast becoming a blog star! Ok, so she is only mentioned on two blogs (one is her Aunt's) but it is still more than can be said for a lot of people out there. Anyway, we celebrated her birthday on Saturday since the Mrs' parents were leaving on Sunday and not here today. Thanks to their arrival (and their willingness to pack several extra suitcases with presents sent from people back in the states) Payton had lots of presents to open. The biggest present was her new big girl princess bed. She has already slept in it several times and does not appear to be having any issues. She still has her self-imposed "invisible rail" up and has not started the wandering routine yet. We will see how long that lasts. She also got a big girl scooter and immediately started scooting around like she has done it before...it must be all that watching of the older kiddos kickin' in. To top it all off, in usual form I made her cake this year. Unfortunately for me, she is in a Dora the Explorer (a.k.a., "DODO" per Payton) phase which means I had to make her a Dodo cake. It turned out ok...but in general the Batman cake, the sledding hill cake and the M&M powered train cake were all far more fun for me ;-) I guess I will have to do something a little better next year for Payton...maybe try some fondant icing or something...

Career Calling

From Payton: Tonight we were reading our "Big Gus, the double decker bus" book (which we got at the Fort Collins Safeway for 25 cents)...and on the last two pages there are pictures of Gus with his eyes open and shut. So every night, I tell her: "his eyes are shut here and his eyes are open here". Tonight when I pointed to the picture of him with his eyes open...before I could say anything she blurted out "Abre"... way to go Payton!

From Kade: Tonight when I was putting Kade down to sleep, we were discussing what he wants to do when he grows up. The list consists of 4 things at the moment. First, he wants to be a pilot. Second, he wants to be a "train master". Third, he wants to be a daddy. And last but not least...he wants to work at Pricesmart...our local version of Sam's club. Oh yeah! You see, last weekend when we were at Pricesmart he decided that he should pick up the big packages of toilet paper on the floor and put them back up on top of the pile. He actually did a great job of properly facing the items and even Payton decided to help. So now he has set his sights high and we are fully supporting his dreams!!! Go Kade!
